Peter Simpson Cook

An indie author, illustrator, designer and fine artist, Peter has most recently released his forth book and first novel, Way of the New Moon Circle. As a Southern California based artist, his various studios have been in the greater Los Angeles area since1986. Born in 1954, he considers himself a mid-century modern design influenced creative. Peter’s artist parents immigrated to America from England in the early 1950s.

In the Los Angeles area, Peter has worked as an art director, illustrator and graphic designer. As an illustrator and entertainment advertising art director, many of his clients have included Center Theatre Group, Mark Taper Forum, Rod Dyer Group, Bright Design, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Feature Animation, Disneyland, The Disney Store, Buena Vista Pictures Marketing, Harvard Business Review, The Tony Awards, The WB/CW Television Network, W Hotel Westwood, MGM Grand Hotel Las Vegas, Sofitel Hotel Los Angeles and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, among others. Educated in design and fine art in Utah, Peter’s graphic design and illustration includes projects for the University of Utah Division of Continuing Education, Pioneer Memorial Theatre, Utah Opera Company and for eight seasons of the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Peter draws from his experiences growing up in the Mountain West to create watercolors, portraits, oil and acrylic works rife with depictions of zen landscapes, architectural beauty and portraits, that lends artistic insight to life in the West. As a Southern California based fine artist, his canvases and portraits center on light and shadow with themes of hands holding leaves, blowing paper and architectural stillness; his watercolors explore passionate landscapes and abstract themes from the natural world. He has been selected to paint many portraits over the years and among them he was awarded commissions for Mark P. Robinson Jr. and Dean Erwin Chemerinski at the UCI School of Law. Art for Your Habitat

PSC Art Studio creates and produces giclée art prints, cards & books for humans of all ages. Founded by Peter Simpson Cook, PSC Art Studio not only creates art prints, but also original art. Primarily selling on the Etsy platform since 2014, PSC Art Studio continues to ship art across the USA and the world. This led to developing a series of note cards, new book titles and the making of Quail Books & PSC Publishing as part of the PSC Art Studio company of talent.

Creating the Modern Animals of the World Art Prints (originally Zoe’s Zoo Animal Art Prints) was the first collection of 32 sold on Etsy. Since then, a book titled, little alphabet animals, featuring these animals was published by Quail Books at PSC Publishing was born in 2020. Next up was the Chinese Zodiac Animal Art Prints, a collection of 14 prints which became a best seller in a pack of small art prints and continues to be popular with a new edition coming this year. Also, Chinese Zodiac Animal horoscope note cards sold in packs of 10 and a new animal card is released every lunar new year. Writing through the covid area, Peter Simpson Cook’s much anticipating short full-color illustrated novel, Way of the New Moon Circle, is releasing this spring. In the future, Peter’s fine art watercolors and canvas paintings will be offered as giclée art prints and cards. And a new collection and series of prints, cards and a book is in the planning stages for release in 2026.
